Memorial Day events return to Washington Township May 26

WT Memorial Day 2025

TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J.—The township invites residents to gather in tribute to local veterans at its annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 26.

The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from the corner of Clinton and Washington avenues. Participants will proceed right onto Washington Avenue, turning left onto Pascack Road, and concluding in front of Town Hall at the Washington Memorial Monument.

The outdoor memorial service will follow immediately at the conclusion of the parade. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and line the parade route to show their support and appreciation for those who have served.

Hometown Heroes Banner Program Expands

In addition to Monday’s ceremony, the Township is continuing its Hometown Heroes Banner Program, now in its third round. The initiative offers community members an opportunity to honor current and former members of the Armed Forces with personalized banners.

The cost to sponsor an entire banner is $125. Donations in any amount are welcome and may be made online or by check. Checks should be made payable to “The Township of Washington” and mailed to:

Township of Washington
Attn: Veterans Banner Project
350 Hudson Avenue
Township of Washington, NJ 07676

The banners will initially be displayed along Pascack Road, with expansion planned to Washington Avenue between Pascack and Colonial, as well as Ridgewood Road and Colonial Boulevard. Banners are expected to remain in place from Memorial Day through Veterans Day, after which they will be replaced by holiday decorations using the same brackets.

For questions or assistance with the banner program, residents are encouraged to contact the administrator’s assistant.
