STAFF REPORT
MONTVALE, N.J.—Leaders from Memorial Sloan Kettering and Hackensack Meridian Health joined local elected officials, healthcare leaders, doctors, nurses, staff, patients, and members of the community for the opening of the MSK Bergen outpatient treatment center in Montvale on June 25.
The 110,000-square-foot facility will bring 190 clinical and administrative jobs to the area. MSK Bergen will include 35 doctors exclusively focused on treating cancer, 28 exam consult rooms, 18 infusion bays, three treatment rooms for outpatient procedures, an on-site rapid response lab that processes blood and other specimens quickly, and an on-site pharmacy that lets patients fill their prescriptions before heading home.
The site will welcome new patients in the coming weeks.
U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) said at the event, “For more than two decades, Memorial Sloan Kettering has supported and strengthened North Jersey families. But today, MSK takes its commitment to our community to a whole new level.”
Gottheimer said MSK Bergen will allow local patients to receive cancer care close to home.
MSK also has facilities in Somerset and Monmouth counties.
Mayor Mike Ghassali presented a proclamation and expressed optimism—both for a cure for cancer, and for Montvale to become “a medical and technology hub.”
“MSK with its most talented doctors are getting closer to finding a cure for cancer and we are all cheering them on,” Ghassali wrote, adding, “Our thoughts and prayers with those who suffer from cancer, we hope this convenient location can ease the burden and help for a speedy recovery.”
