New York Men In Parked Car Had Marijuana

NORTHVALE, N.J.—On Jan. 19 at about 10:15 p.m., Northvale Police were on routine patrol in the Borough of Rockleigh.

While driving through the parking lot of 7 Volvo Drive, an officer observed a New York-registered vehicle parked and occupied by two males.

Officers approached the vehicle to inquire why the occupants were parked in the lot of a closed business.

While speaking with the driver and passenger, both officers detected the odor of raw marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. As the passenger exited the vehicle, officers saw a plastic bag containing a green leafy vegetation believed to be marijuana as well as glass device commonly used to inhale burnt marijuana in plain view on the passenger seat.

A 19 year-old-male from Palisades, N.Y., and a 20-year-old male from Sparkill, N.Y., were taken into custody.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (less than 50 grams), one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and was issued a motor vehicle summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

The passenger was charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (less than 50 grams) and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both parties were released on their own recognizance after processing.
