EMERSON, N.J.—Congregation B’nai Israel hosts its fifth annual Chanukah-inspired Night of Giving on Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 5 to 6 p.m.
Open to adults and families with kids in grades K–7, the event features a toothbrush holder craft, with the goal to assemble 100 smile kits with toothbrushes, toothpaste, and decorated toothbrush holders.
The recipients are people served by Bergen County Department of Health Service Health Counseling Center, which has as its mission “ending homelessness by providing a full continuum of housing services including homelessness prevention, temporary shelter, and permanent placement.”
Attendees are asked to bring other toiletry items, such as deodorant, bars of soap, hand sanitizer, tissues, hand lotion, chap stick, and wash cloths, which will also be donated to the organization.
As this night of giving is timed to coincide with Chanukah, participants also will light Chanukah candles, sing Chanukah songs, and enjoy latkes and apple sauce.
All are welcome. RSVP to the temple office at (201) 265-2272 or office@bisrael.com by Dec. 15.
