NO INJURIES: Van Bursts Into Flames at Bank Drive-Thru

MONTVALE, N.J.—The driver of a 2006 Dodge commercial van escaped injury after his vehicle, stocked with gallons of primer and paint, was seen on fire just after 8 a.m. on July 29 at the Chestnut Street TD Bank drive-thru.

The driver was pulling out of the third lane when a bank employee pointed out the rear of the van was on fire.

The employee called 9-1-1, and police and fire crews responded. The Fire Department extinguished the hungry blaze, which was photographed from a safe distance by Pascack Press reader David Simpson, who said the fire started just over the rear left tire.

Police reported that the cause of the fire was unknown. The victim’s van was towed.

Police said they saw no damage to the bank drive-through canopy but the pavement beneath the van was damaged.
