Nonprofit to host Nov. 8 artisan market showcasing work by adults with disabilities

PARAMUS—New Concepts for Living invites the community to come out and shop locally at its first Artisan Market at its Achievement Center in Paramus.

The nonprofit’s inaugural Artisan Market is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 in the NCFL Achievement Center’s Town Square, 765 Route 17.

The fundraising event will showcase 66 local vendors and artists, including several special needs individuals selling their personal artwork and crafts. Several vendors will also be donating their proceeds to the agency, which provides day programs and housing to adults with special needs across Bergen County.

“Along with many local artisans, several of NCFL’s special needs participants and local businesses that employ I/DD adults will be selling their handmade artwork or products,” said NCFL CEO Steve Setteducati. “The public is encouraged to attend, shop and support the talented artisans and their meaningful work.”

An example of one of the mission-driven vendors is Beloved Bath, which started after its company’s owners met 20 years ago on a playground and learned their sons were both diagnosed with autism. They later discovered that salt and lavender baths calmed and centered them, and started a company that offers vocational training to more than 20 adults with autism and products to help the autistic community.

Participants from NCFL’s Rochelle Park day program will also host a table at the market selling their handmade arts and crafts. For a full list of participating vendors, visit https://ncfl.net/event/artisan-market/.
