BERGEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE
Englewood resident charged with cocaine distribution
– Last December, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Jhoan Tejada was allegedly distributing controlled dangerous substances. An investigation revealed that Tejada was distributing cocaine in the area of his Slocum Avenue residence in Englewood, the prosecutor’s office said.

On Feb. 16, Tejada was arrested near his residence after allegedly distributing approximately 200 grams of cocaine to an undercover detective. Later that day, law enforcement officials searched his residence pursuant to a warrant and seized approximately 800 grams of cocaine (an approximate street value of $50,000); drug paraphernalia, including packaging materials, a digital scale, and several concealment containers used to hide narcotics; and $1,550.

As a result of the investigation, Tejada is charged with one count of distribution of a CDS, cocaine, greater than five ounces, a first-degree crime; one count of possession with the intent to distribute a CDS, cocaine, greater than five ounces, a first-degree crime; one count of distribution of a CDS, cocaine, greater than one-half ounce but less than five ounces, a second-degree crime; and three counts of distribution or possession with the intent to distribute a CDS, cocaine, within 1,000 feet of a school zone, a third-degree crime. Tejada was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a Feb. 21 detention hearing.




HAWORTH
Woman at municipal court arrested for drug possession
– On Feb. 2 at 11:44 p.m., Officer Anthony Butler was conducting the monthly Haworth Municipal Court security detail. While Butler was screening a 59-year-old female subject, from Paramus, investigation revealed the female subject was in possession of prescription legend drugs, in an amount of four or more dosage units.

The actor was placed under arrest and escorted to the Haworth Police Headquarters for processing. The defendant was subsequently issued a complaint-summons charging her with possession of prescription legend drugs, in an amount of four or more dosage units. The defendant was fingerprinted, photographed and released on her own recognizance.

Car crashes into utility pole, driver arrested for DWI
– On Feb. 11 at about 5:03 a.m., Sgt. Justin Fox and Officer Anthony Butler were dispatched to the area of Schraalenburgh Road on a report of a motor vehicle crashing into a utility pole.

Upon officers’ arrival, officers observed a 23-year-old female driver, from Haworth, trapped inside of the heavily damaged vehicle. The driver was subsequently extricated by officers.

Upon contact with the driver, Fox and Butler smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s person, and field sobriety tests were subsequently performed. Based on officers’ observations and indicators observed during the field sobriety testing, it was determined the driver was driving while intoxicated.

The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Haworth Police Headquarters, where she was processed and subsequently provided two breath samples resulting in a .12 percent BAC reading. The defendant was also issued two motor vehicle summonses and released.

Driver charged with marijuana possession
– On Feb. 14 at about 5:06 p.m., Police Officer Kevin McKeary reported conducting a motor vehicle stop on Sunset Avenue with a vehicle bearing a New Jersey registration.

Investigation revealed the 37-year-old male driver, from Hackensack, was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, namely marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The actor was placed under arrest and transported to Haworth Police Headquarters for processing. The defendant was subsequently issued a complaint-summons charging him with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The defendant was fingerprinted, photographed and released on his own recognizance. The driver was issued two motor vehicle summonses.

NORWOOD
Driver arrested for marijuana
– On Feb. 15 at approximately 2:30 p.m., a Norwood patrolman stopped a vehicle on Tappan Road for an equipment violation. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, the officer was able to detect the odor of burnt marijuana. Further investigation at the scene of the car stop lead to a passenger in the vehicle surrendering a bag of marijuana.

The 20-year-old male Westwood resident was placed under arrest and transported to Norwood Police Headquarters, where he was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. The defendant was released pending a Municipal Court date.
