Cheryle Lynn Taylor went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 7, 2019, at the age of 59.
She was born in Englewood to Barbara Louise and Earl Edward Taylor Sr. Cheryle lived in Englewood for most of her adult life. She was a shy reserved girl growing up, then blossomed into a bright young woman with a gift in mathematics. She loved the music of the 70s and was a great dancer.
Cheryle attended Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood. She also graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ, earning her bachelor’s degree in finance in 1982. She worked for Verizon.
Cheryle’s greatest legacy is her love of family. A day of fun nearly ended tragically when she, at the age of 5, alerted her older sister that her brother Rodney jumped into Miller’s Pond. Thanks to Cheryle, Rodney is alive and well today.
She went to great lengths to provide the best education and care for her daughter, Chevon, who attended the prestigious Dwight School in Englewood. To further enrich her daughter’s education, they traveled together. She was active in the Girl Scouts of America as a den mother. Cheryle was also cherished within the family for her cooking and baking expertise. During the holidays, her yeast rolls were always a crowd pleaser.
When her Aunt Dolores Woodson, better known as, “Aunt Dee,” became ill with cancer and needed hands-on care, Cheryle stepped in to provide the compassionate care and nurture required. She provided unending love and support through Aunt Dee’s journey and final transition, on Oct. 10, 2018, to join her Heavenly Father. As Cheryle said her final farewell to her beloved Aunt Dee she learned of her own illness. When her sister asked how she could help, Cheryle responded with “I just need support and encouragement. All I want is to be with Chevon and my grandson, Ethan.”
