OLD TAPPAN, N.J.— The Borough of Old Tappan will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 26. The parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. from the back of Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan and proceeds to Oakes Park on Central Avenue, where the Memorial Day Ceremony is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:15.
The ceremony will include the parading of the colors, the National Anthem, an invocation, remarks from the mayor, a memorial wreath placement, rifle salute, and Taps.
In the event of inclement weather, the Fire Department siren will sound at 8:15 to signal that the parade is canceled. If that occurs, the ceremony will be held indoors at 9:30 in the Charles DeWolf School gymnasium.
Organizers remind participants and spectators alike that Memorial Day is a solemn occasion, honoring the men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation. All are asked to treat the day—and the ceremony—with dignity and respect, both along the parade route and during the observance.
