Stopped for cell phone use, man is booked on warrant 

An officer just leaving the elementary school parking lot on the morning of May 29 saw a driver, with a cellphone held to his ear, pass by in a pickup truck.

After the truck turned right onto Park Avenue, the officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and checked the driver’s credentials. 

A warrant was found out of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. After the warrant was confirmed, the defendant was arrested and taken to headquarters. Warrant officers from Morris County arrived at 12:15 p.m. and took custody of him. 

He left with summonses for hands-free device required and failure to wear a seatbelt. He is due in court on June 19.

Resident extradited to Delaware on criminal warrant

Officers on patrol May 28 at 10 a.m. recognized a suspect, living on Mansfield Road and walking past the funeral home, who was wanted on a criminal warrant out of Delaware. 

The suspect was made aware of the warrant, handcuffed, and searched, then placed in the rear of patrol car 334. At headquarters the warrant was confirmed, and a hit confirmation was sent to Delaware State Police. 

The warrant is extraditable within 250 miles. The suspect was remanded to the Bergen County Jail while New Jersey and Delaware make arrangements to transport him.
