PKRG-TV Hits Milestone, Plans Lively 2019-20 Shows

PARK RIDGE, N.J.—PKRG-TV reports that subscriptions to the station’s YouTube channel have topped the 100 mark, making the outlet eligible for a custom web address on YouTube: PKRGTVOnDemand.

According to PKRG-TV Chairman Howard Fredrics, “The old cryptic URL still works but the above is better.”

The channel televises council meetings, municipal debates, budget hearings, and features.

Asked the secret of the station’s success, Fredrics praised “a great Park Ridge community of viewers, which includes an extended viewership who grew up in Park Ridge and later moved away but who remain tied to the town through their love of family, friends, town events, and traditions, which they can enjoy watching from afar via our YouTube channel.”

He added, “We are only able to provide our brand of diverse programming thanks to our tireless team of PKRG-TV community volunteers and college student interns, who help to film local events and programs—as well as assisting with the many hours of editing needed to turn raw footage into polished programs.

Fredrics said that in 2019–20 staff will continue to have something for everyone. He said there would be more episodes of:

  • “What’s Cookin’, Park Ridge,” featuring local food establishments and area resident chefs preparing a wide range of delicacies while sharing a bit of their personal cultural histories;
  • “Actor’s Showcase,” with local actors presenting excerpts from classic plays and musical theatre;
  • Summertime Concert Series performances with local jazz, reggae, classic rock, and pop artists;
  • A PSA on drug awareness aimed at early intervention; and
  • “Gardening Tips” with local gardeners displaying the area’s natural beauty.

He also said viewers can look forward to more local sports coverage, parades, car shows, traditional holiday events, council meetings and local election coverage, interview programs with local figures, and coverage of a variety of events associated with the 125th anniversary of the Borough of Park Ridge and the 100th anniversary of the Jedh C. Barker American Legion Post 153.

“PKRG-TV is always looking to expand our roster of volunteers of all ages, not all of whom live in Park Ridge. No prior experience is required, as we provide in-house training in production and post-production techniques,” Fredrics said.
