A man whose car drew police attention over a loud muffler, a cell phone affixed to the windshield near the rear-view mirror, and an assortment of stuffed animals arranged on the dashboard wound up with a variety of police complaints, including some for narcotics.

The officer followed the suspect’s black Honda from the Ridgemont Shopping Center to just south of Roland Street, where he stopped the driver, an 18-year-old Southfields, New York man.

The driver appeared nervous, and the car smelled of a sweet “masking agent,” or a scent evidently intended to conceal something the driver didn’t want detected.

After the officer asked about a Bluntville Cigar wrapper he saw, he asked the driver if he had anything in the car he shouldn’t have.

The driver said he had “a bowl,” a glass blue pipe, which he retrieved from the center console and turned over.

The officer had the driver wait outside his car, and he called for additional officers.

In searching the vehicle, police turned up rolling papers, a blue vape pen, and several spray cans of Ozium, a common odor-masking agent.

The police report also notes, “While searching the rear seat on the passenger side, I discovered a rubber penis that was attached to a bladder. The bladder contained synthetic urine that would be used to alter the results of a drug test.”

Later, the report notes that as the suspect was lifting his leg to get into the police car, a clear glassine baggie that contained a greenish vegetative substance, believed to be marijuana, fell out of his right pant leg.”

At least two officers report they saw the baggie fall from the suspect’s pant leg.

At headquarters he waived his rights and said the marijuana was not his but that he had been trying to conceal it in the waistband of his pants.

He was processed and released. He will have to answer to the following complaints at Pascack Joint Municipal Court on Feb. 28:

Possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, failure to make lawful disposition, obstructed windows/vision, noisy muffler, and operating a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
