Police find ‘no threat’ to school following troubling comments from student

RIVER VALE—Pascack Valley Regional High School District Superintendent Sarah Bilotti says police determined there is no credible threat stemming from “a situation that occurred overnight involving concerning social media comments brought to our attention by law enforcement.”

Bilotti wrote families on Tuesday, Dec. 17, “The NJ State Police, in conjunction with the River Vale Police Department, became aware of concerning statements which they immediately investigated.
Although not specific, the NJ State Police were able to identify one of our students as having authored the comment. After speaking with that student and further investigating, the River Vale and Hillsdale Police Departments assured us that there is no threat to the school or to students. Therefore, we will operate on a regular R4 schedule today.”

Bilotti said, “The safety of our students and all others within our educational community is always our first concern. We understand that incidents like this are disturbing, and our staff is always available to provide support for our students.”

She thanked the local police departments “for their swift action and continuing partnership with our schools in ensuring the safety of our students and community.”
