ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—A North Dean Street retail liquor store was targeted by criminals for the second time this month, police here said.
A suspect removed over $1,000 from several cash registers while Oprandy’s Wine & Liquor Store was closed on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 1:50 p.m., police said. The male suspect was captured on video wearing dark clothing, gloves and a light-colored mask of some type (pictured above), they said.
Police had been responding to an activated burglary alarm and determined that a burglary had just occurred, they said.
The incident came less than 10 days after a man carrying a large piece of plastic over his face barreled into the store and behind the counter, stealing money from a lottery cash register, police said. The plastic-carrying man—who had a distinct walk—was then chased by owners, dropping stolen money and his disguise before escaping, police said.
No arrest has been made in either case, and police are asking for help identifying the suspects.
The local CrimeStoppers Group offers up to $1,000 cash for any information significantly assisting the police investigation. Or anyone with information can also call Englewood detectives directly at (201) 568-4875.
“Detectives are investigating both crimes and it is unknown if the two incidents are related,” said Englewood police. “Store owners are reminded to keep minimal amounts of cash, if any, in the registers during and after business hours.”
