Police Searching For Murder Suspect in Bergenfield Stabbing Death

HAVE YOU SEEN HIM? Bergen County Police are seeking information on the whereabouts of Jose D. Perez Vasquez, 60, of Bergenfield, (pictured) who is wanted for the murder of 43-year-old Uvaldo de Gabriel Aguilar.

BERGENFIELD, N.J.—A borough man was stabbed to death May 6—and prosecutors say they know who did it.

They’re searching for 50-year-old Jose D. Perez Vasquez—a landscaper who lives at 14 North Front Street, Apartment 1, in Bergenfield—who is wanted for first degree murder.

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo requests that anyone with information regarding this investigation, or Vasquez’s location, contact the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office tip line at (201) 226-5532, or the Bergenfield Police Department Detective Bureau at (201) 387-4001.

Bergenfield Police responded May 6 to a male victim suffering from a stab wound to the torso in the area of Portland Avenue, Calo said.

Victim Uvaldo de Gabriel Aguilar, 43, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, but died, Calo said.

A warrant has been issued for Perez Vasquez’s arrest, but his whereabouts are unknown at this time, Calo said.

“Acting Prosecutor Calo further states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would also like to thank the Bergenfield Police Department for their assistance in this investigation,” the BCPO said in a statement.
