UPDATE: Hackensack Murder Suspect in Custody; Paramus Man Charged with Hindering Apprehension

HACKENSACK—Authorities arrested Jairo Echeverry, 20, charging him with murder in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Christian Pacas.

Pacas was shot and killed in front of 66 Grove St. on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 1:19 a.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Musella had asked for the public’s help finding Echeverry, describing him as dangerous. He wass arrested in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 23 along with Brian Guerrero, 27, of Paramus, who is charged with hindering apprehension (third degree).

Echeverry is charged with first degree murder, second degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, second degree possession of handgun without a permit.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.

The incident was investigated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge, Capt. Peter Busciglio.
