HILLSDALE, N.J.—American Legion Post 162 of Hillsdale invites you to a dedication ceremony for the newly constructed Hillsdale Veterans Memorial on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony is open to the public, who are encouraged to attend this momentous occasion.
The new memorial was funded by donations to Post 162 and a county Open Space grant.
Conducted by veterans, the hourlong ceremony will be held in Veterans Park near the corner of Park Avenue and Broadway.
Five new memorials were added to the existing World War I Memorial, originally dedicated in 1922. These will honor those who served in early wars, including the War of Independence and Civil War; World War II; the Korean War; the Vietnam War; and the Global War on Terror.
The memorials are intended to be educational and contain basic information about each war. There is a wealth of information available through a QR code link on one of the memorials. When scanned with a smart phone, this link directs to a roster of those who have served our country and are being memorialized by their families; a listing of veterans; detailed information on the wars and those who fought them; and a listing of those who made the memorial possible.
In addition to the dedication of the five new memorials, the ceremony will recognize each branch of the United States military.
