PVHS Theatre presents ‘Disney’s High School Musical’ March 14–16

HILLSDALE—Pascack Valley High School Theatre presents “Disney’s High School Musical” March 14–16.

Based on the beloved 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie, “Disney’s High School Musical” follows a group of teens navigating the excitement and challenges of defying expectations and pushing boundaries.

When auditions for East High’s winter musical are announced, expectations are high for twin leaders Sharpay and Ryan Evans (sophomores Anna Stern and James Campenot of River Vale) to take the starring roles as usual. However, Director Ms. Darbus (senior Brianna Finch of River Vale) is astonished and delighted to discover that basketball team captain Troy Bolton (sophomore Erik Martin of River Vale) and brainy new girl Gabriella Montez (sophomore Olivia Carpenter of Hillsdale) are secretly exceptional singers. Initially met with skepticism from their peers, especially Troy’s basketball coach and father (sophomore Matt Kovacs of Hillsdale), Gabriella and Troy defy expectations and inspire the entire school to break free of the status quo. The talented cast also includes senior Wendy Muska of River Vale as student composer Kelsi Nielsen, sophomore Maya Teckwani of Hillsdale and freshman Abby Campbell of River Vale as Gabriella’s brainiac friends Taylor and Martha, and sophomore Christian Woessner of Hillsdale and senior Matt DeSouza of River Vale as Troy’s teammates Chad and Zeke.

Public performances are scheduled on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m., Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 16 at 1 and 7 p.m. Students in grades 4–8 can register for a special workshop with the cast and creative team before the Saturday matinee performance. There will also be a free matinee performance for senior citizens on Monday, March 11 at 9:30 a.m.; no reservations required.

Tickets are $21 for adults and $13 for students, available for advance purchase at pvhstheatre.org or at the door one hour prior to each performance. All seats are reserved. Pascack Valley High School is at 200 Piermont Ave.
