RIVER EDGE, N.J.—Bergen County authorities say 27-year-old highway operations technician Cory Bensen allegedly sexually abused a juvenile in River Edge on Valentine’s Day.

Bensen, who lives in River Edge and is engaged, was arrested Feb. 14 and charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault (a first degree crime), said Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, in a statement.

The prosecutor’s office offered no details as to what happened, other than that the BCPO Special Victims was contacted and investigated, along with River Edge police.

Bensen is also charged with second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Musella said. All charges are pending, and Bensen is being held in Bergen County Jail, Musella said.

“Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the River Edge Police Department for its assistance in this investigation,” BCPO said, in a statement.
