Registration was suspended, then officer detected marijuana from car

An officer on motor patrol Nov. 22 at 5:20 p.m. observed a vehicle stopped on the side of Rivervale Road near Woodland Court. The officer ran the vehicle’s license plate and learned that the  registration was suspended.

The officer approached the vehicle and immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside. A backup unit was requested. The defendant, 23, from Fairview, voluntarily surrendered marijuana to the officer.

The defendant was read his rights, arrested, and transported to police headquarters for processing. There, he was issued a criminal complaint for possession of marijuana and motor vehicle summonses for driving with a suspended registration, improper display of plates, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

He was released pending an appearance at the River Vale Municipal Court on Dec. 3.

Plate check nabs man on $1,138 in warrants 

An officer on motor patrol Nov. 24 at approximately 3:50 p.m. was conducting random license plate queries when a vehicle travelling on Rivervale Road indicated that the registered owner  had a suspended driver’s license and outstanding warrants.  

The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lindy Place in Old Tappan. A backup unit arrived to assist. The defendant, 40, from River Vale, had outstanding warrants from Washington Township for $888 and Glen Rock for $250. 

The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. There, he posted the requisite bail and was released.

Bad brake light — her fraudulent ID leads to arrest 

An officer on motor patrol Nov. 24 at approximately 8 p.m.  observed a vehicle travelling on Rivervale Road with a malfunctioning brake light. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rivervale Road near Red Oak Drive. 

When asked for her driver’s license, the driver, 27, from Airmont, N.Y., presented a license that was determined to be fraudulent. A backup officer arrived to assist. The defendant was read her rights and arrested. 

At police headquarters, she was issued a criminal complaint for unsworn falsification to authorities and motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps and driving without a license.

She was released pending an appearance at the River Vale Municipal Court on Dec. 3.
