RIVER VALE, N.J.––The River Vale Police Department has told Pascack Press it is hiring full time police officers.
The hiring process is beginning in anticipation of several upcoming retirements.
According to the department: “There are two separate application processes for these positions. One process is being conducted for Police Training Commission (PTC) certified applicants and applicants who are currently enrolled in a PTC certified NJ Police Academy Alternate Route program. A separate process is being conducted for non-PTC certified applicants, who will be required to attend the Basic Course for Police Officers if selected. Applications for both processes will close on Sept. 21, 2017.”
The department describes the jobs as “full-time, law enforcement positions with excellent starting salary and benefits.”
Requirements include:
• U.S. Citizenship;
• 60 college credits or honorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces with 2 years of service
• NJ residency, and valid NJ Driver’s License.
• Applicants must not be less than 21 years of age.
• Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
• Applicants should be of good moral character, sound body and good health, and not convicted of any criminal offense involving dishonesty or unfit to perform the duties of the office.
