Runners Take To The Trails At Tenafly Nature Center

The Tenafly Nature Center’s Lost Brook Trail Race enjoyed its best turn out yet for its ninth year, April 6 in Tenafly.

TENAFLY, N.J.—Taking to the trails of the Lost Brook Preserve at Tenafly Nature Center, more than 100 runners from the Northern Valley and beyond competed for a good cause April 6.

The Lost Brook Trail Race, now in its ninth year, celebrated its biggest turnout yet, said Alex Braunstein, head of public programs for TNC. 

Running over roots, rocks and streams, 33 people finished the 10 mile course, while 65 finished the 5-mile course. 

The race supports the TNC, which stewards this publicly-owned and preserved land and creates educational outreach programs. 

On the 10-mile course, Scott Savage of Jersey City was first, clocking 1 hour, 8 minutes, 6 seconds. Closter’s Michael Ippolito was third, the fastest Northern Valley resident, about one minute behind Savage’s mark. The fastest female on the course was Allison Rosenberg of Alpine, who finished in 1 hour, 36 minutes, 43 seconds. 

On the 5-mile course, the fastest finisher was Nicholas Mamrak, who traveled from New York, clocking in at 33 minutes and 12 seconds. Christina Allen of River Edge finished third best, and was the fastest woman on the course, completing it in 37 minutes, 7 seconds. 

Tenafly’s Tad Hawkins, 58, finished the course in 41 minutes, 49 seconds, the fastest resident on the 5-mile course.
