HILLSDSALE, NJ—Official mail-in ballots for the 2023 March Special School Election were mailed out on Feb. 23 to the voters with active vote by mail requests
Only voters with active vote by mail requests will receive their ballot within three days. Voters with active requests who do not receive their ballot within a week should call (201) 336-7020 to request a duplicate. The deadline for the County Clerk to receive vote by mail applications for this election is March 7.
Sample ballots will be mailed out on March 8. Your sample ballot will have your voting location printed on it.
Hillsdale Public Schools notes on its “Road to Referendum” web portal, “The Hillsdale Board of Education will ask voters on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 for permission to borrow $82.7 million to replace the century-old George G. White Middle School. Because there are more students, GW is out of space. Age has put GW out of date. Together, those factors mean Hillsdale is out of time to continue delaying action.”
Staff writer Michael Olohan has been closely following the referendum, and proponents and opponents have been discussing the referendum in Pascack Press letters to the editor, for some time. The letters deadline for the last issue before the referendum is Tuesday, March 7 at 11 a.m. We accept respectful letters on timely local topics at pascackpress@thepressgroup.net. Letters must be signed, and publication is not guaranteed.
