Seven Harpists Join With Nature on Sunday, June 23

Members of the Cavin Harp Ensemble will at Flat Rock Brook Nature Center Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m.

ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—When is the last time you heard a live solo harp?  Never?  You are not alone.

How about seven harps all playing together in solo and ensemble? The Cavin Harp Ensemble is unique being the only seven member harp ensemble in New Jersey!

On the grounds of the beautiful Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, the Cavin Harp Ensemble will be giving a program of solo and ensemble music containing light classics, Broadway and folk music. The program will be Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m. and will last about an hour.

At the end, interested people are invited to see the harps, talk to the players, and sign up for harp scholarships which will be available for children and adults of any age or experience.

This program is given to showcase the joy of harp playing as well as to provide scholarships for interested children and adults.  These scholarships are for lessons and participation in the Ensemble. The scholarships are given to encourage people to play a very unique instrument and to bring about new understanding of the harp.

The harp is in demand for orchestras, weddings, memorials, programs, private parties, churches, restaurants and recording sessions.  In addition, the harp is being used in hospitals and other venues to bring comfort and relieve stress. Locally, harps are being used for this purpose in Englewood and Paramus.

Another advantage to learning the harp is that college orchestras have very few harpists applying, and admission counselors are apt to give the harp players a second look.

The public is invited—especially children. There is free admission with voluntary donations accepted for the Harp Scholarship. The program starts at 2 p.m. and lasts about one hour at Flat Rock Brook Nature Center,  443 Van Nostrand Ave. in Englewood.  Light refreshments will be served.
