South Carolina Painter Arrested in Englewood with Two Kilos of Heroin: BCPO

ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—A man prosecutors say was trafficking narcotics between South Carolina and New Jersey was arrested Nov. 5 in Englewood with two kilograms of suspect heroin, seized during a traffic stop, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Juan Osto-Alvarado, a 36-year-old self-employed painter from Goose Creek, S.C., is due to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Nov. 12 to answer to one count of first-degree possession with intent to distribute heroin, Musella said.

Osto-Alvarado was operating the vehicle when it was stopped in Englewood, Musella said. The prosecutor’s office had been investigating based on information it received earlier this month, Musella said.

He’s being held in Bergen County Jail and is presumed innocent until proven guilty, Musella said.
