TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON—The Zoning Board of Adjustment meets in a hybrid special session on Monday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. for Apple Montessori School’s application to build a 154-student daycare on the former Charlie Brown’s property, 95 Linwood Ave.
The application as originally submitted in September 2022 and has been undergoing review from professionals, including engineers and planners. Vetted, this is its first appearance at the ZBA.
The applicant has applied for a “D” or use variance to construct a school on a site now zoned for single-family homes only, said officials.
Documents submitted Jan. 30 include preliminary and final site plan application, maps and photos, a traffic study, a preliminary list of zoning variances and waivers sought, and a sign concept.
Township and Paramus residents would be neighbors of this daycare. The township had wanted the land for a DPW, and then for a police headquarters, but bailed on a purchase when environmental studies suggested there was more to examine underground. Apple Montessori said it was satisfied with its own due diligence.
