Store Clerk Who Tried Grabbing Gun Unharmed; Police Searching For Armed Robbery Suspect

Englewood Police are asking for help identifying this man who robbed a Lafayette Place convenience store at gunpoint Jan. 22.

ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—Police are asking for help finding the individual who robbed the Stop & Go Deli & Grocery at 276 Lafayette Place on Jan. 22 at 8 p.m.

A masked suspect was captured on video brandishing a gun as he entered the store. One of the store clerks attempted to grab the weapon from the suspect, who ran from the store—without firing—with a handful of cash he grabbed from the cash register.

“…We urge anyone who may be put in a similar situation NOT to fight with an armed suspect,” Englewood Police Detective Capt. Timothy Torell said, in a statement.

The suspect ran west on Rosemont Place and into a dark-colored vehicle that eventually traveled towards the Teaneck border.

“At this time, we are asking for the public’s help through our CrimeStoppers group.
