ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—The Englewood School Board has appointed educator Benjamin Suro to be the new principal of Dwight Morrow High School.
Suro was officially hired on July 1 and has begun preparations for the upcoming school year.
“Taking the reins at Dwight Morrow High School is an incredible opportunity and I look forward to giving my all to the students in this fine institution,” said Principal Suro.
“I look forward to applying the lessons I have learned and strategies I have seen succeed over my over 15 years of educational experience to prepare for the upcoming school year and make DMHS a leading school in our community and state.”
Suro severed as vice principal of the S.T.E.M. Academy at John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson. He has also previously worked as the district supervisor of science for the City of Orange County School District, and has taught biology at the prestigious Bergen County Technical Schools.
Suro is also in the process of earning his doctoral degree in educational leadership from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, which he is expected to complete in 2022.
“Here at the Englewood School District we are working hard to establish a progressive, data driven model for educational excellence that will prepare our students for college and career readiness as they leave our district and move on to the next steps in their lives,” said Englewood Schools Superintendent Robert Kravitz. “Principal Suro’s proven track record in academia will be a great asset to the students of Dwight Morrow High School and his dedication to making a difference in the lives of young adults will be welcome in our district.”
Not only is Suro an experienced educator, he has also dedicated a considerable amount of time to community service. Over the years he has volunteered with organizations such as Big Brothers and Sisters of America and the Special Olympics.
