HILLSDALE—Throughout August, the Hillsdale Free Public Library is exhibiting acrylic-on-canvas paintings by Priya Bavalia, a local teen artist whose work spans geometric designs, serene landscapes, and expressive portraits—all centered on themes of hope, resilience, and compassion.

Bavalia, a Hillsdale resident, is using the exhibition to raise awareness and funds for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association in honor of her cousin, who had the condition. Pulmonary hypertension is high blood pressure in the arteries that carry blood from the heart to the lungs.

“What’s really important to me is doing something that can help someone else, even if it’s just one person,” Bavalia said in a statement shared with Pascack Press on Monday, Aug. 4. “I want my paintings to inspire others and bring happiness into their lives.”

Dave Franz, HFPL’s library director, added, “It’s always exciting for the library to feature local artists in our Meeting Room Gallery, but it is especially rewarding this month to support this talented young artist and her philanthropic efforts.”

Bavaria’s paintings will be on display at the library beginning on Aug. 4. The artist is hosting a reception at the library on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. Bavalia will donate the proceeds from the sale of her art to the Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Association.
