TENALFY, N.J.—A Tenafly resident is offering a $2,000 reward for finding her black toy poodle that was stolen off her front lawn Nov. 10 about 5:30 p.m.
The nine-year-old dog, named Molly, was apparently taken by someone, which was witnessed by a neighbor who was told by the suspected dog thief that the dog was being taken to the police.
Irene Morganstern, of Knoll Road, said she has visited nearby shelters, veterinarians, and police departments in Bergen and Passaic counties searching for her dog to no avail.
“…Our black toy poodle Molly was picked up on the corner of Knoll and Royden in Tenafly by an anonymous lady driving a dark sedan…” said Morganstern on Facebook. “Since our street is very local and only individuals in the area drive through, we have reason to believe that this person is a resident of Bergen County and we need to find them. We have at this point covered all police stations, shelters, Vets, shopping malls, grocery stores within a 40-mile radius. Molly is surely being held by someone and we need her back.”
Morganstern said the dog has kidney disease and requires medication twice daily.
“The whole community has been super-supportive and engaged but so far nothing,” Morganstern said.
She said information has been posted on Facebook, and other social media, with many offering tips and information but no luck yet in locating the stolen dog.
“If anyone has any information at all about Molly, please contact us. We promise that no questions will be asked as we only care about the safe return of our precious dog. Also, if anyone has footage from a door or garage security camera in the area, please contact us as we may be able to get a license number at least,” said Morganstern.
Anyone with information or tips on finding Molly should call her owner at (267) 318-8583 or (303) 594-9710.
