DEMAREST, N.J.—Santa got an escort from the Demarest Volunteer Fire Department and helped light the borough’s Christmas tree alongside Mayor Melinda Iannuzzi on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
In a scene reminiscent of a winter wonderland, the borough’s historic train station was the site of the community gathering, as many came to the ceremony amid freshly fallen snow.
Participants enjoyed hot chocolate and holiday music and even got a chance to share their special wishes with Santa himself.
Also willing to help out was the Demarest Police Department, and members collected contributions of unwrapped children’s gifts for the ongoing annual PBA Toy Drive.
Pictured above, before heading back to the North Pole, Santa posed for a picture with Demarest kids (and kids at heart).
