TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J.—Mayor Peter Calamari has announced that the Township of Washington will conduct its annual Christmas tree lighting on Friday, Dec. 6 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Finnerty Place.
The Ambulance Corps will serve hot chocolate, cookies and donuts; the PBA will serve popcorn; Foodtown will serve hotdogs; and Santa will gift hot pretzels.
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will give out candy canes and other fun giveaways.
Christmas carols and other traditional songs will be provided by the Washington Elementary School and Jessie F. George Elementary Schools’ 4th and 5th grade choirs, the Girl Scouts, and Jim Dugan.
The Immaculate Heart Academy Dance Team will perform jazz dance numbers.
New this year for kids is free iceless ice skating, sponsored by Seasons. Skates will be available, but residents may bring their own.
The PBA Toys for Tots Drive will use the trunk of its decorated Humvee for donated toys. In the spirit of giving, all are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy for this program.
Following the lighting of the Township Christmas tree, the Fire Department will deliver Santa Claus on his big fire truck sleigh. All are invited to say hello and take pictures with Santa and his good friends Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and other holiday characters.
