PASCACK VALLEY — Shoppers with frozen Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice in their freezers are being urged to check the bag after a nationwide recall tied to possible glass contamination.

Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. is recalling about 3.37 million pounds of frozen, not-ready-to-eat chicken fried rice sold under the Trader Joe’s label after the company reported four consumer complaints of glass found in the product. No injuries have been confirmed, according to federal officials.

The recalled item is “TRADER JOE’S Chicken Fried Rice with stir fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat and eggs” in a 20-ounce plastic bag. The affected bags carry Best By dates ranging from 9/8/2026 through 11/17/2026 and bear establishment number P-18356 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The product was shipped to Trader Joe’s retail locations nationwide, including the Westwood store. Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled product and to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
