HILLSDALE, N.J.—An early morning fire on Thanksgiving caused extensive damage to a home on Lincoln Avenue as responding fire companies reported “heavy fire conditions” in a second-floor bedroom.

Reported a little after 2 a.m., the fire was extinguished by 3 a.m., fire officials reported in a Facebook post. No one was hurt in the fire, fire officials said.

Fire officials reported the blaze left a hole in the roof and rear side of the house. The cause of the blaze was undetermined, said officials. Upon arriving on scene, Hillsdale Fire Chief Tom Kelley called a second alarm, creating a mutual aid response from River Vale, Westwood, Woodcliff Lake and Park Ridge fire departments.

“Engine 33 arrived on scene and stretched one line to the second floor where they located heavy fire conditions in the bedroom. At the same time the crew of 31 truck entered the building and began primary searches of the fire room and fire floor. Engine 34 and Rescue 3 arrived shortly after and helped with overhaul and ventilation,” said a post on Hillsdale Fire Department’s Facebook page.

Officials said the fire was contained to one second-floor bedroom and all units cleared the scene within two hours of response.
