MONTVALE—Veteran community journalist Michael Olohan, senior reporter for Pascack Press, made his “Montvale in Motion” debut on the popular community television program in late August.
On the show, longtime host and author Anthony “Tony” Salerno Jr. quizzed Olohan about how he got started in journalism, what he most enjoys about the job, the challenges and opportunities of social media, the most interesting stories he’s covered, the decline of print newspapers, and how to get the most out of reading Pascack Press — which also has a popular website, thepressgroup.net.
The nearly 14-minute interview can be found by visiting the borough website and clicking on My Montvale TV just underneath the Mayor’s Corner link.
The borough streams on demand a rich range of content, from council meetings to special events to work session meetings, as well as the local personality magazine shows, going back to 2018.
Olohan has been a reporter with Pascack Press and its sister publication, Northern Valley Press, since September 2017. He covers municipal government, including town councils, school boards, planning/zoning boards, local elections, and local/regional development and redevelopment.
He has been recognized for excellence in grassroots reporting by the New Jersey chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Salerno hosts two shows, “My Montvale” and “Montvale in Motion.” “My Montvale” regularly features conversations with local and county public officials, including regular mayor appearances. “Montvale in Motion” features interviews with lesser-known newsmakers and personalities who help enhance the Pascack Valley’s quality of life.
The station also posted three more new videos in late August, with Salerno interviewing actress, teacher, and director Rachel Menconi, a resident.
On “My Montvale,” Salerno interviewed Mayor Michael Ghassali and Bergen County Commissioner Tom Sullivan, also a resident.
The shows also appear on Ch. 35 (FIOS) and Ch. 77 (Optimum). Check channel schedules for program times. The Aug. 22 interviews will run through the end of September on community television channels. An archive of interviews can be found at My Montvale TV.
