The man is shown on surveillance video calmly walking down Bennet Road before dashing through the front door of the convenience store, brandishing a suspected firearm and jumping the counter.

Englewood Police Detective Capt. Timothy Torell says he grabbed one of the clerks, forced him to open the cash register, then fled after getting several hundred dollars.

“…The suspect, who was wearing a distinctive scarf or other clothing item that covered the lower part of
his face, then ran from the store in the same direction he originally came from,” said Torell. “Our
Officers arrived within moments and searched the area with negative results. City detectives responded, called in the county crime scene unit and evidence was recovered at the scene which is currently being analyzed.”

The Bergenfield-Englewood-Teaneck-Hackensack Crimestoppers group is offering up to a
$1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that significantly assists in
this investigation, said Torell.

“We’re asking our community to view the video carefully and call in a tip if you think you recognize something familiar,” said Torell. “Sometimes it’s the way someone walks or runs, the clothing they were wearing, anything at all that can help us apprehend this suspect.”

Crimestoppers can be reached at (844) 466-6789, online at www.bergencrimestoppers.org, or on Facebook.

Tipsters can also call Englewood City Detectives directly at 201-568-4875 or
