WESTWOOD — A local lecture series marking the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary continues Wednesday, March 25, with a presentation on “The American Revolution in New Jersey” at the Westwood Community Center.
The program, part of a six-part “Celebrating the Semiquincentennial” series, will run from 7 to 8 p.m. at 55 Jefferson Ave. Admission is free and no registration is required.
Hosted by Historical Speakers for Seniors in collaboration with the Westwood Historic Preservation Commission, the series is designed for audiences of all ages and explores key moments in American history.
Council President Lauren Letizia, who shared the event with residents, noted the program aligns with current social studies curriculum for fourth-grade students in the Westwood Regional School District.
“This is a particularly exciting alignment with what students are learning about the American Revolution. My daughter and I can’t wait,” Letizia said, encouraging families to attend.
The series is made possible through the volunteer efforts of Westwood residents and educators Cynthia and Damon Affinito.
Additional sessions in the series are planned in the coming months as part of broader Bergen County “Bergen250” initiatives commemorating the nation’s semiquincentennial.
