Westwood sine die, reorg meetings Jan. 6

WESTWOOD — Westwood’s Mayor and Council will hold its year-ending “sine die” meeting and its annual reorganization meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the Municipal Complex, 101 Washington Ave.

The sine die meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and includes an executive closed session listed for: a clerk’s office personnel matter, a professional service personnel matter, and a litigation matter (including acquisition of property and attorney-client privilege). The public portion of the meeting includes approval of minutes from the Dec. 16, 2025 closed session and public meeting, an engineer’s biweekly report, reports from the mayor, council president, liaisons/committees, the borough attorney, and the administrator/clerk, followed by a public forum.

Among the items on the sine die consent agenda are resolutions to approve the cash statement and bill list; authorize an RFP for borough engineer; renew eligible-employee group life and AD&D insurance through Metropolitan Life; accept a grant-funded stormwater management study from NJIT as lead agency; authorize a library wine-tasting event; authorize an agreement with Jersey Girl Apiary; approve 2025 budget transfers; authorize an offer of employment for an administrative assistant; authorize purchases for the Police Department including tasers and a New Jersey Alcotest system; authorize funding and a deduct change order for the Fairview Avenue, Section 3 road/CDBG program; and cancel taxes for a totally disabled veteran (Block 504, Lot 30). The meeting is listed to adjourn sine die.

The borough’s 132nd reorganization meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. and is set to include the swearing-in of Beth Dell and Robert Bicocchi to three-year council terms expiring Dec. 31, 2028. The agenda lists the selection of a council president for 2026 (by resolution), followed by the mayor’s designation of council committee assignments for the year.

Also on the reorganization agenda: appointment of borough professionals, including the borough attorney and borough engineer, plus a package of other professional service appointments and annual “housekeeping” resolutions typical of a reorganization meeting (including items such as official newspapers, payment signatories, interest rates on delinquent taxes, meeting schedule, and a temporary budget). The agenda also lists annual appointments/designations to various municipal roles, appointments to borough boards and committees, and oaths of office for Westwood ambulance corps and fire department officials, followed by awards, the mayor’s remarks, and a benediction.
