WOODCLIFF LAKE—Republican Mayor Carlos A. Rendo, the borough’s two-term leader, and his running mates, Julie B. Brodsky and Joshua S. Stern, received nearly 10 times the minimum number of votes needed to qualify as candidates on the party line in the Nov. 7 General Election ballot.
All three candidates needed to receive write-in votes from a minimum of 25 valid, registered Republican voters to appear on the Republican Party ballot line in the Nov. 7 General Election.
Current vote totals showed Rendo with 271 write-in votes, Stern with 273, and Brodsky 260.
Their Democratic challengers: former councilwoman Nancy Gross, running for mayor, and incumbent Richard Schnoll and newcomer Jared Shapiro.
County Elections Division officials provided Pascack Press June 13 with updated “unofficial” write-in vote totals for Woodcliff Lake’s three Republican write-in candidates.
Elections officials were awaiting late vote by mail write-in ballots (postmarked by June 6) by June 12, with a final “cure” date of June 17. Final vote certifications by local and county clerks was due by June 19.
As of June 13, the county clerk’s elections website showed a countywide 4.4% voter turnout for the primary election, with 29,298 of 665,776 registered voters casting primary ballots.
