RIVER VALE, N.J.—The Baylor Massacre Memorial Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Baylor Massacre Burial Site in River Vale has been canceled due to anticipated inclement weather, Bergen County officials announced.
The ceremony, part of the county’s Bergen250 initiative commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary, was organized in partnership with the Borough of River Vale, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The event will not be rescheduled this year. County officials said the annual commemoration will resume in 2027, continuing efforts to recognize Bergen County’s role in the American Revolution and honor the Continental soldiers killed in the 1778 Baylor Massacre.
The county apologized for any inconvenience and thanked residents and participating organizations for their understanding.
