ORADELL — Bergen County Players is inviting residents to grab their trench coats and magnifying glasses for a townwide scavenger hunt tied to its upcoming production of The 39 Steps.
From Thursday, April 30, through Sunday, May 3, 39 numbered silhouettes of Richard Hannay, the comedy thriller’s dashing hero, will be hidden at secret locations throughout Oradell.
The hunt begins at the Little Firehouse Theatre, 298 Kinderkamack Road, where participants can pick up official clue sheets starting April 30. Hunters must take a selfie with each Hannay cutout they find and tag posts with #BCPTHE39STEPS and #ORADELLUNDERCOVER to qualify for prizes.
Those who find 10 silhouettes will be entered to win a pair of tickets to The 39 Steps. Those who find 20 will be entered to win four tickets. The first “ultimate sleuth” to find all 39 will receive a pair of tickets to The 39 Steps and a pair of tickets to a show of their choice during BCP’s 2026–27 season.
“We are so excited to bring the suspense and fun of The 39 Steps off the stage and onto the streets of Oradell,” BCP President Alyson Cohn said. “It’s a fantastic way for families to explore our beautiful borough while supporting local community theater.”
Winners, along with BCP’s 2026–27 season lineup, will be announced during the theater’s annual open house Saturday, May 16. The free event offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Little Firehouse Theatre and its operations.
Bergen County Players, based in Oradell since 1932, is a nonprofit community theater group dedicated to presenting live theater and fostering appreciation for the arts in Northern New Jersey.
