TENAFLY, N.J.—The Oct. 7 meeting of the Tenafly Garden Club Inc. will be held in the Garden Room at the Davis Johnson Park and Gardens at Engle Street and Westervelt Avenue, Tenafly at 11:30 a.m.
At the meeting, Mary Jo Sichak—a naturalist, master gardener and photographer—will give a presentation titled “A Garden Safari.”
Sichak believes that a healthy garden is home to a vast and diverse community of wildlife. This program is a fun photographic look at life in the garden and the many creatures, both great and small, that live in or pass through as part of their daily routine. A focus of the program is the growing importance of the home gardens as a habitat for wildlife in the region today.
Sichak has served as a volunteer educator/naturalist at the Lincoln Park Zoo (Chicago), Bergen County Zoo and Weis Ecology Center over the past 35 years. She became a master gardener in 2011 through the Rutgers program and has been documenting her experiences throughout. She will share her experiences of the natural beauty she has discovered here in Northern New Jersey with her audience on Oct. 7.
Program donation for non-members $10. Donation proceeds go to Rutgers Gardens Scholarship Fund (Bruce Crawford, director).
Refreshments and an opportunity to speak with club members follow the presentation. For more information and to register, call (201) 568-8254.
