While I was not a resident of Emerson when the Emerson Boro Hall was built under the WPA program, I can well appreciate the benefits of the WPA. I grew up in Brooklyn and my father worked for the WPA. The WPA provided employment for many families during those difficult economic times. To me, the Emerson Boro Hall is not a building but rather a monument. I hope the building survives the rumors that there are initiatives to take the building down. I am sure that we can find a viable alternative that will allow the Boro to keep the building to pass on our heritage to future generations.
