ORADELL, N.J. — A car struck and toppled a traffic light stanchion at Kinderkamack Road and New Milford Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Sept. 24, bringing down signals, a mounted camera and a delayed-green warning sign. The driver was uninjured.
Police Chief David Gangemi told Pascack Press the driver came up New Milford Avenue and attempted a left turn, striking the curb and knocking down the traffic light.
“Yeah, he’s fine,” Gangemi said of the driver.
The black Infiniti sedan came to rest beside the curb with extensive front-end and passenger-side damage and multiple flat tires. The fallen stanchion stretched from the brick sidewalk into the busy intersection, with broken yellow signal housings, exposed wiring and debris scattered nearby.
Police directed traffic around cones and the wreckage while Oradell firefighters spread absorbent material beside the car. A Holy Name ambulance and a tow truck also responded.
Whether any summonses were issued was not confirmed.
