PASCACK VALLEY—A heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, through 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, with heat index values expected to reach around 100 degrees.
The advisory covers Bergen County and several surrounding North Jersey counties. Hot temperatures and high humidity may increase the risk of heat-related illness, particularly for seniors and people with chronic health conditions.
Residents are urged to stay in air-conditioned spaces, drink plenty of fluids, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable relatives, friends, and neighbors. Anyone showing signs of heat stroke should be moved to a cool, shaded location, and 911 should be called immediately.
