WESTWOOD — Westwood resident Gale Herzing has advanced to the quarterfinals of the nationwide 2025 Fab Over 40 competition — a campaign that celebrates strength, resilience, and reinvention for women over 40 while raising money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Herzing, 59, said the response from the community has been “overwhelming,” with residents voting daily, sharing her story, and offering messages of support.

The journey has been deeply personal. Herzing lost her sister two years ago, a close friend five years ago, and another dear friend five years before that — losses that strengthened her longtime commitment to women’s health and wellness.

A former Wall Street professional with a 25-year career, Herzing founded Wellness by Gale to help women in midlife reclaim their health, confidence, and strength. She said her background in wellness allowed her to help care for the women closest to her during the most difficult chapters of their lives.

“I did not begin helping women because of these losses,” she tells Pascack Press. “I was already doing that… but the experience made my purpose even more meaningful and personal.”

Herzing weight trains five days a week and promotes a balanced approach to health: disciplined nutrition paired with joy — time at the beach, good food, laughter, and gratitude. “At 59, that balance of strength, health, and joy keeps me feeling my best,” she said.

The Fab Over 40 contest invites daily votes, including free votes and optional paid votes that support the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The competition’s mission — education, early detection, and support for women facing breast cancer — is one Herzing says resonates strongly.

The contest promises “One fabulous woman over 40 will win $40,000, a luxury spa-cation, and a NewBeauty magazine cover feature.”

If she ultimately wins the $40,000 prize, Herzing says she hopes to use it to create shared experiences that bring joy and connection and to support causes that uplift others.

Her profile, interview, and current standing are here. Voting resumes Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. PST.

Herzing is also well known locally as the mother of two Westwood Boy Scouts: Eagle Scout Erik Herzing and his younger brother Henry, who is preparing an Eagle project in partnership with Hackensack Children’s Hospital.
