DEMAREST, N.J.—Reviving the Broadway musical “Mamma Mia!”, students from Northern Valley Regional’s Demarest High School take the stage March 7–9.

The feel-good production—set to the music of 1970s Swedish pop group ABBA—is an empowering story of self-discovery as young bride-to-be Sophie Sheridan (played by Chloe Crosnier, a senior student) invites three men—one of whom is likely her father—to her wedding on a Greek isle.

The invitations to the three father figures is news to Sophie’s mother, Donna Sheridan (played by Isabella Scanlan, a senior), who must confront her past and present while navigating the sudden appearance of the three-former romantic partners—all while organizing a beautiful wedding for her only daughter!

Other staring roles included: Chad Marge as the fiance Sky; Adriana Dipple as Ali; Lucy Stratton as Lisa; Justin Han as Pepper; Bobby Connolly as Eddie; and Matt Gonzales as Father Alexandrios.

The all-school musical not only offers students a chance to star in leading roles, but also to learn the ins and outs of a full-scale professional production. According to Thespians of NVD on Facebook, there were 57 cast members, supported by 28 crew members. Cast members engaged in backstage, set and costume design, lighting and many other duties.

Thespians of NVD said that after nine weeks of rehearsals and over 1,000 pre-sale tickets, the cast, crew and faculty advisors were proud to present “Mamma Mia!”
