Speeding driver arrested had marijuana

On Feb. 19 at about 6 p.m., a Norwood patrolman stopped a vehicle for speeding on Livingston Street.

While speaking with the motorist, a 24-year-old female from Nanuet, the officer was able to detect the odor of burnt marijuana. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana in her car earlier in the day and surrendered a pipe that she had used to smoke it with.

Written consent to search the vehicle was obtained and a bag of marijuana, a marijuana cigarette and two additional pipes that had been used to smoke marijuana were recovered.

The motorist was placed under arrest and transported to Norwood Police Headquarters where she was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After visiting two bars, Bergenfield woman arrested for DWI

On Feb. 25 at about 3:20 a.m., Norwood officers were dispatched to Tappan Road for a disabled vehicle stopped in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers observed that the driver of the vehicle had stopped the car and had fallen asleep.

Officers were able to wake the driver, a 26-year-old female from Bergenfield, who advised them that she had consumed several alcoholic beverages at two different bars that evening.

The motorist failed several field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest and transported to Norwood Police Department Headquarters where she recorded a 0.19 percent blood alcohol content. The motorist was charged with driving while intoxicated.

New York man faces marijuana charges

On Feb. 21 just before 11 p.m., a Norwood patrolman stopped a vehicle on Livingston Street for an equipment violation.

While speaking with the driver, a 23-year-old from Brockport, N.Y., the officer was able to detect the odor of raw marijuana.

After obtaining written consent to search the vehicle, the officer located two marijuana grinders, a container holding marijuana and a vaporizer used to ingest THC oil.

The motorist was placed under arrest and transported to Norwood Police Department Headquarters, where he was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain lamps and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
