WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J.—A Prospect Avenue residence was burglarized on Monday, Nov. 25, after a rear sliding door was smashed with a rock between 1 and 4:30 p.m., said Detective Sgt. Chad Malloy.
There were packages left on the front porch, and the burglar or burglars had attempted to enter a side door before smashing the rear slider, Malloy said.
“This is our prime season for burglaries. They drive around, look for dark houses, and packages left outside,” said Malloy. “Unfortunately, this is what we’re dealing with.”
The Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the crime scene looking for forensic clues. The case is under investigation.
“It gets dark early. Leave lights on and set alarms,” the department wrote on Nixle. “If you see or hear something suspicious, call police.”
