Stopped for missing plate, gives a fake ID

An officer on patrol the afternoon of July 10 saw a vehicle, without a front license plate, traveling on Piermont Avenue.  

The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Piermont Avenue near Cedar Lane. There, the defendant presented an international driver’s license that was determined to be fraudulent. A backup officer arrived to assist. 

The suspect, 22, from Paterson, was read his rights and placed under arrest. Transported to police headquarters and processed, he was issued a criminal complaint for unsworn falsification to authorities. He also was also issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps and unclear plates. 

He was released pending an appearance at the River Vale Municipal Court on July 16.

‘Suspicious man’ awaiting return to Pennsylvania

Officers responded to Loretta Drive on July 16 at 7 p.m. on a reported suspicious person. He was located by officers and asked for identification. A computer check revealed that the suspect, 40, from Philadelphia, had an outstanding criminal warrant from Philadelphia.

The man was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters.  He was transported to the Bergen County Jail to await extradition to Pennsylvania.

Westwood man is dinged on light, $500 warrant

An officer on patrol at 10:20 a.m. on July 14 saw a vehicle travelling on Rivervale Road with a malfunctioning brake light. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rivervale Road near Piermont Avenue. A computer check of the driver’s credentials revealed that he had an outstanding warrant for $500 from Oradell. 

A back-up officer arrived to assist, and the suspect, 22, from Westwood, was placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters and posted the requisite bail. 

He was issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps and driving while driver’s license suspended. The summonses are answerable at River Vale Municipal Court on Aug. 6.

Parked with flat then picked up on warrants

The supervisor of a business on Rivervale Road contacted police on July 20 at approximately 9:05 p.m. to report an unauthorized vehicle was parked in their parking lot with a flat tire. 

An officer arrived and determined that the driver had sustained a flat tire on Rivervale road and parked the vehicle at that location while waiting for assistance.  

A computer check revealed that one of the people involved, 40, from Egg Harbor City, had outstanding warrants from Mays Landing and Mullica for $1,500.  She was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters.  

There, she posted the requisite bail and was released.
